Villa Maydou – Luang Prabang
Situated at the heart of the historical center of Luang Prabang in northern Laos, Villa Maydou shelters a cultural and historical treasure. Indeed, two of its houses are registered in the UNESCO World Heritage Programme. Dating back to 1925 and 1936, they both went under restoration thanks to that programme. Now they have been turned into rooms for the hotel’s guests. Their architecture stands as a remnant of ancient Lao traditions. The setting of the Villa Maydou is quite unusual as well since it is located on a peninsula at the confluence of the Mekong and the Nam Khan Rivers, and is surrounded by mountains. Inside the hotel, the houses were built within a luxurious tropical garden. A salt-water pool is set outside. Regarding food, two dining areas and two bars offer different kinds of cuisine: Lao, Asian and France.
