La Folie Lodge – Done Daeng
La Folie Lodge is situated in the Champasak Region, an UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern Laos. More specifically, the place was built on the Done Daeng Island, on the Mekong River. It is designed to offer guests stunning views of the river, from anywhere in the Lodge. It faces the archeological Wat Phou site, that may be connected with a boat ride. The lodge features 24 rooms divided in 12 bungalows, all furnished with local materials. Besides those rooms, guests may also book La Résidence, a separate deluxe villa, comprising 2 bedrooms and its own kitchen as well as a colonial decoration. It is ideal for families. The hotel’s restaurant is located next to the swimming-pool, and offers both Western and Asian dishes. Furthermore, La Folie Lodge takes a major part in local development projects. The hotel has joined various programmes, and it has recently renovated a school in order to put it back in activity. La Folie’s goal is to raise the living standard of the island and thus to gradually eliminate poverty.
