La Residence – Hue

In Hue, central Vietnam, La Residence Hotel is a piece of history on Le Loi Street. Built in 1930 as an addition to the residence of the French Resident Superieure, the mansion is one of the only remnant of that period. It was restored before being opened to public as a prestigious hotel in 2005.

It comprises 122 rooms and suites at the heart of the former imperial city of Hue, alongside the Perfume River. When it was first built, it was showcasing the Art Deco trend that was spreading throughout Europe but also colonies. During its restoration, architects decided to keep that feature. La Residence’s design thus combines a colonial touch with the fineness of Vietnamese materials into a delicate and refined atmosphere. Special feature: La Residence Hotel comprises a salt-water pool. Le Parfum Restaurant offers a French-Vietnamese fusion food. Le Gouverneur Bar is decorated according to the Art Deco touch and provides a nice view over the city thanks to a crescent shape and floor-to-ceiling windows. Besides, the hotel sets up all kinds of activities and meals: dinner cruise, picnic lunch on Thien An Hill, bicycle ride, cooking classes. Guests may also enjoy a treatment at the hotel’s spa, that stretches for 320 sq meters and comprises a herbal sauna and a jacuzzi.
