Battambang stands as the second major city of Cambodia. Situated on the Sangkae River, it is the capital city of Battambang Province. Tourists are drawn to that uncommonly charming venue. Indeed, Battambang is usually referred to as a laid-back city where coffee tastes good and the setting is picturesque. Besides, because it used to be an important colonial city during the French period, Battambang houses some of the finest specimens of colonial architecture throughout the country. Around the city itself, several sites can be visited, including many temples.
